  2024-05-24

The first rationally designed dual mPGES-1/5-LO inhibitor was reported in 2008 and represents a structural derivative of pirinixic Combretastatin A4 - a synthetic agonist of PPARα with lipid-lowering properties (Koeberle et al., 2008b). Further α-alkyl- and α-aryl-substituted derivatives have been

Animals Female Sprague Dawley (SD) rats, aged 3 months with body weight between 180-210 g were housed in cages and acclimatized to standardized lab conditions (temperature 23 ± 2°C, humidity 50 ± 5% and 12 h light-dark cycles). The rats were fed with standard rodent food pellet (Harlan Diet, Ross

  2024-05-24

The apoptosis-promoting Bcl-2 family includes BH3-only proteins (e.g., Bim, Bid and Bad) and multiple-domain proteins (e.g., Bax and Bak). At the time of apoptosis stimulation (e.g., DNA damage), only the BH3-only protein is activated, directly or indirectly promoting Bax/Bak oligomerization, changi

  2024-05-24

Discussion Arginase 1 and Arginase 2 are homologous enzymes that consume l-arginine to produce l-ornithine and urea [14], [15]. These enzymes compete with NO synthases for the same substrate [14], [15], [30], and therefore may reduce NO production [21], [24], [30]. The colocalization of arginases

  2024-05-23

Functional repercussions of each trimming pathway A main difference between the two pathways presented in Fig. 1 lies in enzyme kinetics and selectivity. In pathway #1, the substrate for ERAP1 is free peptide, and so both kinetics and selectivity are determined by interactions between the peptide

Interest in natural products has led to the study of plant extracts as sources of ARIs. However, chemical complexity of natural extracts makes the identification of ARIs challenging and time-consuming. Identification of bioactive compounds with the desired biological effect from natural products, co

Finally, Urban-Ciecko et al. (2018) asked whether this enhancement is specific to the pyramidal to SST neuron synapses or more generally observed in other synapses of the cortical microcircuit. Synapses between pyramidal cells showed no sign of potentiation after either bath application of the choli

• CK is considered a central controller

  2024-05-23

CK is considered a central controller of cellular energy homeostasis that catalyzes the reversible transfer of a phosphoryl group from ATP to adenosine diphosphate (ADP) and creatine to produce PCr [5]. This enzyme builds up a large pool of rapidly diffusing PCr for temporal and spatial buffering of

Inactivation of the proton pump comes with luminal alkalinization of the targeted vesicles such as lysosomes (Fig. 2b).
