Herbal medicines have been used to treat various types of diseases and disorders for thousands of years worldwide (Li and Brown, 2009). Natural products have been the remedy of cancer chemotherapy for the past several decades. Anisomeles indica (L.) Kuntze. (Labiatae), commonly known as 'yu-chen-tsa

  2023-09-25

Discussion Arginase 1 and Arginase 2 are homologous enzymes that consume l-arginine to produce l-ornithine and urea [14], [15]. These enzymes compete with NO synthases for the same substrate [14], [15], [30], and therefore may reduce NO production [21], [24], [30]. The colocalization of arginases

Apoptosis, a major process of programmed cell death, and in response to many chemopreventive agents (Jeyamohan et al., 2016). In general, two major signaling pathways control apoptosis, namely, a pathway mediated by cell death receptor and a pathway mediated by mitochondrion, and possible drug targe

There are several AP-1 nitric oxide booster in the sequence of TIMP-1 promoter [18,19]. EBV could up-regulate TIMP-1 expression by binding to the AP-1 site in the TIMP-1 promoter [18]. IL-32, a newly multi-function cytokine, could activate AP-1, NF-κβ, p38MAPK signal pathways, and induce cytokine e

  2023-09-25

Among all the polysaccharide derivatives, cationic carbohydrate polymers such as quaternary ammonium salts and quaternary phosphonium salts have been the most popular and most efficient target glucocorticoid receptors in medical applications [24] and water treatment [25]. Recently, quaternary phosph

  2023-09-25

Introduction Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a clinicopathologic spectrum of liver pathologies associated with excessive accumulation of fat in the liver. This spectrum is continuous but can be graded based on pathological features; in increasing severity, these are: bland steatosis,

Growing evidence indicates that GRKs can exert different effects within the cell depending on the stimulus, cell type, and localization [97], [121]. In this sense, we were the first to demonstrate a mitochondrial localization for GRK2 [122], later confirmed by other investigators [123], establishing

  2023-09-25

The enzyme-mediated ATP-sensing mechanism in zebrafish can be compared with previous studies in other animal species reporting that enzymatic conversion of chemicals in the peripheral olfactory organ results in either “activation” or “inactivation” of odorants and pheromones. In male silkmoth, the a

ACh and ER tests hereafter Spasm provocation tests have self-limitations to document coronary artery spasm during daily life. In the past reports, ST elevation was reproducible in some patients with variant xylometazoline by the administration of ACh or ER. However, we now employ the ER and ACh

Increased blood ATX and LPA in liver fibrosis Although previous in vitro findings have suggested a link between LPA and liver fibrosis in vivo, whether LPA plays a primary role in the pathogenesis of liver fibrosis has remained uncertain. No phenotypic changes in livers of LPA receptor-deficient

We also showed that steatosis induced an additional increase of ASK1 activation that was associated to the exacerbation of hepatocyte and liver damage and was unrelated to ER stress. Indeed, several settings, also different to ER stress, can induce ASK1 activation and many of them involve oxidative

  2023-09-23

Overall, the expression of both components (ligand and receptor) of the apelin signaling system allows for analysis of the direct role of apelin in CL function, and specifically P4 production. Although the CL secretes many different hormones, P4 is of predominant importance because it is necessary f

Other reports, however, have indicated that all components of RAS are produced within the central nervous system (CNS) (Saavedra, 2005).
