The ion conduction pathway reported herein accounts for all known functional properties of EAAT/GltPh anion channels. Simulations reveal unitary current amplitudes and ion selectivities (Figures 3C and 3D) that resemble experimental results (Melzer et al., 2003, Wadiche and Kavanaugh, 1998). The cal

Acknowledgements Introduction High-intensity noise exposure has long been known to induce damage in the peripheral and central auditory system, often resulting in auditory pathologies such as hearing loss, tinnitus and hyperacusis (Syka, 2002; Roberts et al., 2010). Within the inner ear, struc

Materials and methods Results Discussion Our data show that the ghrelin receptor, Ghsr, links energy homeostasis with a form of adult hippocampal plasticity. The presence of Ghsr on mature DG neurons suggest that acyl-ghrelin may modulate NSPCs indirectly, possibly via soluble factors such

Materials and methods Results and discussion Conclusion Altogether, our data provide an unexpected insight into Cx26 trafficking pathway and gap junction assembly in the cochlea. Since many of the disease-causing mutations in GJB2 impair the trafficking and delivery of Cx26 to the cell surf

A single ICV injection of GALP stimulated food intake in goldfish at 1h post-administration. This result is similar to that observed in rats, where ICV injection of GALP exerted an acute orexigenic effect [14], [15], [16]. Simultaneously, our findings counter the results found in mice, where central

Of note, the intracellular egg compartment exhibiting SA-β-gal activity also exhibits lipofuscin auto-fluorescence (Fig. 6B), and it is co-stained with the lipid-specific dye SBB (Supplemental Fig. 5). On the one hand, these findings reflect the fact that the pool of yolk protein contains lipoprotei

  2022-07-29

Cellular inhibition is caused by the hyperpolarization of the cell and is mediated by both synaptic and extrasynaptic GABAARs. Synaptic GABAARs are sensitive to high concentrations of GABA released at the synapse and mediate phasic inhibition. In contrast, extrasynaptic GABAARs mediate tonic inhibit

Ning et al. showed that LPC 18:1 appeared to increase insulin release through both GPR119-dependent and -independent mechanisms (Ning et al., 2008). In our study, we have shown that not only GPR119 but also GPR40 and GPR55 participate in LPC-stimulated insulin secretion (Fig. 4, Fig. 5) and target p

  2022-07-29

Much is known about FPPS structure and function, with over 120 FPPS crystal structures being currently available. This wealth of information is largely the consequence of human FPPS serving as a drug target for the treatment and/or prevention of pathologies such as osteoporosis, hypercalcemia and Pa

Materials and methods Results Discussion It has previously been reported that EZH2 plays a key role in the silencing of tumour suppressor genes through methylation of H3K27me3 in the promoter region of these genes in neuroblastoma [32], [40]. In this study, we show that EZH2 is aberrantly g

Based on the inhibitory potency of C646 for HDAC6, we monitored α-tubulin acetylation; an HDAC6 substrate. C646 treatment provided pronounced inhibition of α-tubulin acetylation after both 6 and 20h of incubation, which argues against HDAC6 inhibition by C646 in RAW264.7 cells. The observed effect o

Our results show that deletion of the first loop of Obg does not abolish the augmentation of the GTPase activity of CgtAvc, revealing that the first loop is mainly responsible for the anchoring of the protein in the 50S and the transient interaction with ribosome is enough for augmentation of GTPase

  2022-07-27

Routine administration of exogenous GC is pertinent during late gestation, particularly in women who are at risk of delivering a preterm infant, aiming at ensuring proper neonatal outcome and survival (Kamath-Rayne et al., 2012). Unfortunately, despite its beneficial roles in foetal survival, variou
