As discussed above, both endogenous and exogenous lesions can lead to adverse health effects [43]. Damaged nucleobases can block DNA replication which is often lethal to cells [44]. The effectiveness of DNA restoration by DNA glycosylases should be closely monitored to gain an insight of the functio

We also observed a significantly higher SLC10A1 gene expression and NTCP protein level among metastatic individuals vs. donor livers. Based on the collective experience to date, it is likely that a much more comprehensive assessment of GSI selectivity for inhibition of multiple substrates, as well as biomarkers to track inhibition of non-APP substrates in vivo will be needed to support future efforts to develop substrate selective

  2022-01-20

In the case of acute inflammation such as ischemic injury of heart, brain, lung and kidney as wells as in the case infection related injury it is now well established that the leukocytes particularly polymorphonuclear (PMNs) D4476 are the first responders. Under normal circumstances these leukocyte

Despite their undisputed importance, however, FPR receptors are not in the limelight of GPCR-related research (for review [12] and references therein). We, therefore, draw attention to this GPCR receptor family, in order to re-initiate FPR-related research, particularly in the light of biased agonis

  2022-01-20

To meet the requirement of ferroptosis-based therapy, a couple of small molecule drugs and nanomaterials were introduced to the design of ferroptosis inducers, separately. As we know, iron is a key regulator of ferroptosis. When small molecule drugs are employed to induce ferroptosis, the endogenous

  2022-01-20

Another important outcome of reducing hypothalamic HIF in DIO was the increase in gliosis and hypothalamic inflammation. Both experimental and human studies have shown that hypothalamic inflammation plays an important role in obesity by inducing resistance to anorexigenic signals, such as insulin an

  2022-01-20

CTGF is an established YAP/TAZ target gene which plays a central role in tissue remodeling. Downregulation of CTGF mediates collagen loss in chronologically-aged human skin whereas persistent activation of CTGF can result in excessive deposition of collagen and fibrotic disorders [63]. The authors f

  2022-01-20

Several recent studies have linked clock function with the cell cycle and reported that clock components, such as PER1, PER2, BMAL1, and CRY1/2 decrease cell proliferation or improve the action of anti-cancer drugs in different cancer cell lines. Moreover, certain types of human cancer show an alter

The eel, and perhaps other euryhaline teleost fish, have the additional peptide, renoguanylin that exhibits high levels of expression within the kidney as well as the intestine. In terms of overall sequence, pre-prorenoguanylin is more homologous to pre-proguanylin than pre-prouroguanylin and a phen

  2022-01-19

The glycine receptor is an ionotropic neurotransmitter receptor coupled to a chloride ion channel. Glycine receptors are typically described as inhibitory and distributed in the spinal cord and brainstem, though mRNA transcription labelling studies in rats show expression in the hippocampus, cingula
