  2024-11-07

Telomerase action at the telomere is highly regulated; it preferentially elongates the shortest telomeres, and recruitment of the enzyme complex to the telomere occurs in mid-S phase of the cell cycle (Bianchi and Shore, 2007, Britt-Compton et al., 2009, Teixeira et al., 2004, Hemann et al., 2001, T

  2024-11-07

Although several different membrane estrogen receptors have been reported (Qiu et al., 2008; Revankar et al., 2005), a large percentage of membrane-initiated steroid hormone signaling appears to be performed by a subpopulation of the same receptors that act in the nucleus. Specifically, estrogen rec

  2024-11-07

Recently, competitive inhibitors of arginase have been developed which have greater specificity for the enzyme. Initial development of these compounds involved determination of the crystal structure of arginase. Christianson and colleagues found that a binuclear manganese cluster was required for ca

• To enhance the accuracy of SEs

  2024-11-07

To enhance the accuracy of SEs in eliminating cancer cells, the mAb recognized by specific Nimodipine on tumor cells were fused with SEs. Fab C215 or C242 fused with SEA promoted apoptosis in human colon carcinoma cells via Fas (Dohlsten et al., 1994, Litton et al., 1996). SEB-incorporated exosomes

  2024-11-07

Asthma The chronic airway inflammatory disease genotyping pcr is associated with enhanced levels of exhaled NO generated by iNOS in the airway epithelium [12]. In asthmatic patients local and systemic changes in iNOS, peroxynitrite, arginase, ADMA and arginine levels have been observed and are a

Since the beginning of 1990s, more than 17,000 papers about physiological relevance of antioxidants have been published according to data from web of science. Based on the available literature, it seems that assessing the antioxidant potential of food by means of in vitro assays or solely epidemiolo

While we chose to divide our etiologies into three categories, it should be noted that such division has certain limitations. Even though URIs and the common cold are considered mainly viral in origin and rhinosinusitis mainly bacterial in origin,26, 27 there is considerable overlap between these co

• Cell surface metalloproteases coordinate signaling

  2024-11-07

Cell surface metalloproteases coordinate signaling during development, tissue homeostasis, and disease. A disintegrin and metalloprotease 17 (ADAM17) is a well-characterized member among ADAM family, which mediates the cleavage of various cell surface proteins (Black, 2002, Black et al., 1997, Dello

  2024-11-07

In this report, we introduce a new method for identifying aminopeptidases. Because single substrates can be insufficient for enzyme identification, we used an entire library of substrates to obtain more information about enzyme activity and to directly detect aminopeptidases. Moreover, substrates ca

Based on our findings in this work as well as the previous published data in the experimental mice model of RSV infection, we suggest that modulation of 12/15 LOX expression and/or blocking of LOX products such as 12(S)-HETE may represent potential pharmacological approaches to prevent or treat vira

Moreover, mice exposed to high-cholesterol diet have mildly activated astrocytes, increased expression of ApoE and aquaporin-4 in the hippocampus, and altered levels of proteins associated with Aβ metabolism (Chen et al., 2016), which is related to a higher demand for cholesterol transport and the n

Liao [47] and van Linden et al. [48] divided the gap between the N-terminal and C-terminal lobes into a front cleft or pocket, a gate area, and a back cleft. The back pocket corresponds to the gate area and the back cleft. The front cleft includes the Gly-rich loop, the hinge, the linker connecting

  2024-11-07

The lack of specific PARP inhibitors prevents our understanding of how TIPARP or perhaps other PARPs affect AHR signaling. Current inhibitors are based on NAM and were designed to inhibit PARP1 [59]. Many of them do not effectively inhibit mono-ADP-ribosyltransferases and their ability to inhibit TI

Since forskolin is known to act directly at the catalytic site of adenylate cyclases near the ATP binding (Tesmer et al., 1997), the synergistic and/or permissive effect of gonadotropins on FSK activity must occur at the level of AC itself or very near, at the level of one of its direct partner.
